Watercolor - An Intro to Plein Air Sketching & Painting
Thursdays, August 8, 15, 22, and 29 from 6:00 - 8:00PM.
Instructor: Rachel Pace
During this four-week plein air urban sketching class, instructor Rachel Pace will teach the basics of watercolor, as well as a specific style and way to use the painting medium. The class will take some time to stroll around the Art House in Downtown Covington to paint from observation, and learn a bit about perspective and creating a composition. Students will learn the practice of getting an idea down on paper quickly, all while facing the little challenges that may arise when painting from life and in the outdoors (such as a bug flying into your paint or pedestrians trying to see just what you are doing!).
By the end of the session, you will have the beginnings of a fantastic sketchbook, which will include some of the architecture and nature of our beloved St. Tammany Art House and Historic Downtown Covington.
