Open Pottery Studio allows individuals with previous pottery knowledge to freely create new works of art! Resident pottery instructor, Janie Dick, will be in attendance to monitor ceramicists and answer questions, but only minimal instruction is provided. With a monthly subscription, students will receive 25 pounds of low-fire Gator White clay, use of the pottery wheel, slab roller, and all tools and glazes. Students may also bring any low-fire clay, low-fire glazes, and tools, they may want to use. STAA will handle all bisque and glaze firing on site. Firings will take place at the end of the third and fourth weeks of studio, so make sure your pieces are bone dry and ready! Any additional firings will be a $15 charge per firing to the student.
Come and go during the offered dates and times as you please! We ask that students that require use of the pottery wheel email maggy@sttammany.art with their required dates to reserve a wheel. All students must clean up after themselves before leaving!

FROM 10:00AM TO 12:00PM

In this beginner-level course, Carolyn Biggio discusses art history, developing color masses, and oil techniques with students. Carolyn will give presentations on art history, specifically the development from academic painting to impressionism in 19th Century France, and will teach students how to develop shape, color masses, and volume. Students will work new with objects each week - including transparent objects. This class is great for students who wish to learn about the all encompassing history and techniques of oil paints and still life!
