Join Rachel in this hands on workshop where you will learn how to work with a gel plate and acrylic paints to monoprint on paper! Students will learn how to turn their printed paper into a book cover to create a basic pamphlet stitch booklet. Students will leave with a completed project.

Skills learned: 

• basic monoprinting using a gel plate

• basic bookbinding

• basic single pamphlet stitch

Drawing is the foundation of the arts, the basis of all eventual understanding of every form of painting, including abstract, figure, landscape, etc. Drawing classes stress the comprehension of value, proportion and scale.

Bring your own drawing utensils and paper/newsprint or whatever you wish to draw on. This is a laid back group of art enthusiasts that gather to learn from each other and draw. All levels of experience welcome. Adults only; under 18 with parent permission.

4:00PM - 5:30PM AND 6:30PM - 8:00PM

Have a special someone you want to create a memorable evening with, or do you and your friends need a night out?
Join us for this “couples” course! Each couple creates hand thrown pieces on the potter’s wheel. Instructor Janie Dick will teach students how to work with clay to throw their very own vessel. Create a variety of pieces, then choose the best one to complete the firing process. Students will work with stamps and tools to add texture to their pieces, attachments, and choose glazes to add color. Pieces are then fired, and students will receive an email when they are ready to be picked up!

This class is an introduction to the wonderful world of bookbinding. In this class we will discuss the history of bookbinding and explore two basic book forms, the concertina (accordion fold) and the pamphlet. Each student will create two books, a hard cover concertina and a sewn single pamphlet. Bookbinding supplies will be provided.

CLASS RESCHEDULED FOR SATURDAY, APRIL 27TH AT 12PM

In this one-day workshop, students will create their own ceramic egg trays using hand building techniques and a slab roller. Underglaze will be provided to add color to your clay once your egg dish is created. Janie will fire your pieces and provide a date to pick up your finished egg dish!

This workshop is designed to give you a day off from the stresses of everyday life and experience the joy of jewelry making. No prior experience or skill is necessary. You will get the choice to make two pieces of jewelry – a necklace, bracelet, or a pair of earrings. All necessary tools will be provided, as well as an array of beautiful beads and charms to adorn your pieces.  

*This workshop is a perfect way to bond with a daughter, mother, sister or friend! All ages are welcome to take part in this exciting jewelry party.

During this 3-hour hands-on Weaving Workshop students will leave with a unique handwoven wall hanging  and the confidence to continue to explore weaving on their own. Students will receive a thorough overview of a  basic understanding of weaving. Supply fee includes Loom Kit to use for the workshop and take home to  continue creating. All materials are provided at the workshop. No prior weaving experience needed; all levels are  welcome. 

Students will learn to warp a frame loom, create fringe, plain weave technique, create shapes, textures, and patterns. Learn to remove the weaving from the loom and turn it into a unique wall hanging.

An Introduction to Watercolor with Caryn Lang

Introduction to Watercolor is a 4-week course that acquaints the beginner with the essentials of watercolor painting. Students will explore techniques, methods, and various properties of watercolors.

Ceramic Birdhouses with Janie Dick

Students will learn the basics of slab building with clay to build a 3-D bird house. These birdhouses make the perfect housewarming gift, add a special touch to your yard, or act as an adorable addition to your home!

This workshop is designed as an opportunity for beginning acrylic artists to learn color mixing using the color wheel as a guide. During the course of this workshop attendees will mix multiple bright and muted colors using three primary colors (red, yellow, blue) and white gesso. Students will paint one or more Picasso-style piece of art on canvas to practice the art of color-mixing.

Abstract Oil with Macy West Zimmer

In this beginner-level course, instructor Macy West Zimmer will teach students about the intricacies of oil paint, and students will create their own abstract paintings.

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 22; 12PM - 2PM

Design and take home your own floral centerpiece in this engaging and fun 2-hour workshop! Students will learn the process of designing and constructing their very own fabulous centerpiece with Sara Gray-Foreman, owner of Violeta’s Floral and Plant Shop in Downtown Covington. Sara will teach students about flower identification, the mechanics of centerpiece design, and floral color theory, balance, and insertion. Come Flower with Us!
