A Taste of Covington
Rain or Shine Spring for Art is here!
Mark your calendar because there are few better ways to spring forward than with Spring for Art, a celebration of music, art and performing arts, and few better places to celebrate such than historic downtown Covington. Spring for Art is a free festival held in the streets of the city’s historic downtown district. Produced by St. Tammany Art Association, the annual event draws thousands of patrons who come out to enjoy the live music, art demonstrations, performances and dining in numerous Spring for Art locations.
This year, Spring for Art will feature a sprawling Art Market all along Columbia Street, live music, demonstrations, and the return of our local mixologist cocktail competition Mix Masters.
This event is supported by a grant from the City of Covington, Louisiana Division of the Arts, Office of Cultural Development, Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism, in cooperation with the Louisiana State Arts Council, a administered by the St. Tammany Parish Commission on Cultural Affairs.
If you are a member and wish to participate in the spring for art market, register here!

Mix Masters Cocktail Contest
Sponsored by the Covington Business Association!
This year’s celebrity judges include local artist and educator Meghan Garcia, owner of Mandeville’s The Denim Bar, Jade Skluzacek, and restauranteurs Maggie and McClain Balmer!
Mix Masters will take place right outside of the Art House on Columbia Street from 6:00pm to 6:45pm during Spring for Art! Three local celebrity judges will choose the Best Cocktail, while members of the community will award a Fan Favorite.
Best Cocktail takes home the winner’s pot and a custom STAA Mix Master’s cocktail shaker. The winners of the Fan Favorite award will also receive a custom STAA Mix Master’s cocktail shaker!
The $40 registration fee goes towards the winner’s purse. The more participants, the bigger the pot!
Mixologists are allowed to set up at 5:45pm. You can mix your cocktail on site or beforehand. STAA will provide tables, chairs, 1oz tasting cups, and ice. Mixologists are not limited to using vodka, but all other alcohols and mixers must be provided by the competitors.
