CELEBRATING NATURE WITH ART INSPIRED BY THE CHOCTAW AND OJIBWE CHIPPEWA TRIBES

Taught by Meghan Garcia

Students will create a mythological creature based on their favorite personal character traits. Students will create miniature totem poles from out of clay and wooden dowels, Students will learn about the cultural and historic significance of the dreamcatchers created by the Ojibwe Chippewa tribe and to handcraft their own large scale dreamcatcher. Students will draw historical and cross-cultural connections between ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics, Louisiana Choctaw symbols and Louisiana plant life.
