CELEBRATING NATURE INSPIRED ART THROUGHOUT THE AGES

Taught by Jessica Danby

Students will be introduced to multiple styles and types of art making inspired by nature’s resources. They will create artwork using natural media and projects will span thousands of years of history. Students will create a pique tapestry with clay coils and learn how to felt animal wool, a practice used for artistic expression since at least 600 BCE. Students will view examples of petroglyphs and Native American symbols as inspiration for their own picture story creations and create a painted story quilt.
