In this one-night workshop students will use one slab of clay as their canvas to create an abstract illustrative wall piece. Using the sgraffito technique, we will be applying glaze and then carving out our design or image. Instructor will glaze your artwork in a clear gloss and fire them.
Italian for “scratched,” sgraffito is a technique used in painting, pottery, and glass, which consists of putting down a preliminary surface (or glaze), covering it with another, and then scratching the superficial layer in such a way that the pattern or shape that emerges is of the lower color.
